Member Spotlight: Valley Bookkeeping
Meet Natalie Olmstead, Owner of Valley Bookkeeping LLC, a valued member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.
In this edition of Member Spotlights, we share the story behind the business, explore what inspires their work, and highlight the impact they are making in West Hartford’s vibrant business community.
What inspired you to start (or lead) your business?
Valley Bookkeeping LLC was inspired by my passion for helping small business owners feel confident and in control of their finances. As a CPA working in both public accounting and corporate finance, I saw firsthand how many entrepreneurs were overwhelmed by bookkeeping and unsure of their numbers. I started Valley Bookkeeping to provide personalized, reliable financial support that goes beyond compliance, giving business owners the clarity they need thrive.
What problem do you solve, and who do you serve?
I help small business owners eliminate the stress and uncertainty of managing their finances. Many entrepreneurs are experts in their trade but lack the time or expertise to keep their books organized, stay compliant, and understand their financial performance. We provide bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and financial reporting services that give business owners clarity and confidence in their numbers. We proudly serve small businesses across a variety of serviced based industries.
What is a milestone or moment you’re especially proud of?
One of the milestones I am most proud of is growing Valley Bookkeeping from a side business into my full-time career. What started as a passion for helping small business owners better understand their finances evolved into a thriving business built largely through client trust, referrals, and relationships. Being able to take the leap from corporate employment to running Valley Bookkeeping full-time was both exciting and rewarding, and it reinforced that there is a real need for personalized, high-quality financial support for small businesses. Seeing the positive impact our work has on clients every day makes that achievement even more meaningful.
How do you engage with or give back to the local community?
Through Valley Bookkeeping, I enjoy participating in community events, networking organizations, and educational workshops where I can share knowledge and connect with fellow business owners. Additionally, I volunteer my time with local nonprofit and community organizations, believing that strong businesses and strong communities go hand in hand.
What’s one thing people might not know about your business?
One thing people might not know about Valley Bookkeeping is that while we provide bookkeeping services, our approach goes far beyond simply recording transactions. As a CPA, I bring a deeper financial perspective that helps clients understand the story behind their numbers and make more informed business decisions. We focus on building relationships with our clients and serving as a trusted partner, not just a bookkeeper, so they always have someone in their corner as their business grows.
How can fellow Chamber members best support or connect with you?
The best way fellow Chamber members can support Valley Bookkeeping is by connecting with us, getting to know our services, and thinking of us when they meet small business owners who may need bookkeeping or financial support. Referrals are always appreciated, but I also enjoy building relationships, sharing knowledge, and collaborating with other local businesses. Whether it's through networking events, educational opportunities, or simply starting a conversation, I'm always happy to connect!
