Meet Eric Bergenn, President of Bergenn Financial Group, a valued member of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.
In this edition of Member Spotlights, we share the story behind the business, explore what inspires their work, and highlight the impact they are making in West Hartford’s vibrant business community.
 
What inspired you to start (or lead) your business?
I find the industry is full of folks who are selling insurance products masquerading as financial advice, or are charging a fee to put people in investment models they aren't even managing. I wanted people to experience the real benefits of quality financial advice and custom portfolio management in a way that is usually reserved for ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
What problem do you solve, and who do you serve?
We help people understand their financial position, if they're on pace for goals, and invest in a risk-appropriate way to maximize risk-adjusted return and achieve their goals.  We serve many populations, but our first focus is on retirement income strategies for folks approaching or in retirement. We also do a lot of work with folks of all ages who receive equity compensation and business leaders. In all of the areas we serve, we like to help people create legacies they are proud of.
What is a milestone or moment you’re especially proud of?
I feel like I've gotten to the point where my team can manage client relationships even when I'm not around.  I don't intend to be any less involved, I just appreciate having such a solid team that I know our clients are well served even when I can't be there.
How do you engage with or give back to the local community?
I volunteer as a member of the Board of Directors for the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce and support many area non-profits with volunteer and financial contributions.  I love participating in community activities with my 3 kids.
What’s one thing people might not know about your business?
People who haven't worked with us may not realize that my secret weapon is my amazing team.  Shelby and Pranish help run our operations and investment research, and our clients absolutely love them.  They add so much value to what we provide to our clients and the community, and I wish more people got to talk with them and experience their amazing energy and talent.
