Butterflies are back! Starting with a butterfly release on Friday, June 7, and continuing through September, children and their families are invited to walk through the idyllic and peaceful butterfly garden located at The Children?s Museum. While learning about native plants, how best to attract butterflies to home gardens, and the life cycle of butterflies, visitors can participate in live releases of butterflies into the garden!
This year, The Children's Museum is featuring some new and different native species.
What are they? You'll have to come visit to find out!
This seasonal event is now entering its sixth year and will be adding more educational programming to enhance the experience for our visitors. Hands on activities, games, and classes will be available to our guests as they experience the winged wonders in our butterfly garden.
The butterfly house is open everyday during regular museum hours. Weather permitting, releases run once a week on Fridays through June, and then they are at noon twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, for the remainder of the summer. Releases start at noon.
The releases are accompanied by butterfly and gardening facts, some tips to help you make your garden pollinator friendly, and all the exciting exhibits the museum has to offer.
