DESCRIPTION:Always wanted to write a play but didn?t know where to start? Maybe you have some ideas but just don?t know how to set up a scene or build character? Have some scenes already written but want feedback and encouragement to KEEP ON WRITING? This is a class for you! Through a workshop structure\, we will explore writing for the theatre through practice and discussion. We will study major components of playwriting\, including action\, dialogue\, and character! Students will complete and workshop writing assignments\, and encouraged to provide and receive feedback. We may also study the work of contemporary playwrights and have the opportunity to see Playhouse on Park?s production of Indecent. No previous playwriting experience necessary! Budding writers welcomed! The class will conclude with a showcase of selected pieces performed in a Reader?s Theatre format\, to an audience of friends and family.
