DESCRIPTION:FLOW and Junior Achievement of Southwest New England are joining together to empower youth! \n\n\n\nPlease join JA and your colleagues as we discuss workforce readiness\, entrepreneurship\, and financial literacy with students in grades 3-5 on Tuesday\, May 22\, 2018 at Wolcott Elementary School in West Hartford. \n\n \n\nBesides touching the lives of students\, this is a great chance to network and to grow personally and professionally! Junior Achievement is a nationally recognized organization and supported by many businesses. Volunteering with JA is an amazing way to engage in the community while representing your business.\n\n\n\nWhy JA?\n\n \n\nJunior Achievement's core mission is to empower young people to own their own economic success.\n\n \n\nVolunteers\, donors\, educators\, alumni and proven programs help transition young people's mindset from\n\n "I Can't" to "I Can!".\n\n \n\nJA in a Day Overview\n\n \n\nWhat is JA in a Day?\n\nJA in a Day is a high impact way to deliver Junior Achievement's (JA) lessons for a particular grade level all in the same day.  It is a unique opportunity as it offers volunteers a way to get involved with Junior Achievement with minimal interference in a volunteer's daily schedule or with long-term commitments. *Enjoy a catered lunch provided by Junior Achievement.\n\n                         \n\nWhat do volunteers do?\n\nThe volunteers participate in a training session prior to the event where they will obtain their classroom materials and teacher assignments. On the day of the event\, volunteers conduct the lessons in their assigned classrooms.\n\nThe mandatory training session is May 14th from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the West Hartford Town Hall Rm 400.\n\n \n\nWhat is the role of the classroom teacher/ JA staff?\n\nDuring the event\, teachers are present in the classroom at all times to help maintain classroom management and discipline and to answer any of the volunteer's questions. JA staff plans and coordinates the day and is at the school to help as needed.\n\n\n\nWhat is the time commitment?\n\nThe day of the program runs\, on average\, 5 hours. Volunteers arrive at the school at 8:30 a.m. to begin lessons.
