SUMMARY:AI Risk Roundtable: From Compliance Obligations to Insurance Readiness
DESCRIPTION:Please join Pullman & Comley on November 17 for a breakfast roundtable for business leaders and risk managers on AI governance\, compliance\, and insurance\, led by Chris Cook of Blackbox Zero\, Chris Bollig of Bellrock Insurance\, and Attorney Russ Anderson of Pullman & Comley.\n\nCompanies deploying AI face a rapidly evolving compliance landscape. Existing legal principles regarding IP\, data privacy\, consumer protection\, and employment discrimination already apply to many AI use cases\, while new laws are emerging at both the federal and state level. Connecticut's own SB 5 is among the most comprehensive. At the same time\, AI incidents don't map cleanly onto any existing insurance policy\, and some insurers are now disclaiming AI coverage outright. This roundtable will address how to build a coherent AI governance program that addresses both regulatory compliance and insurance readiness.\n\nTopics of discussion will include:\n\n\n	How existing legal frameworks (privacy\, employment\, consumer protection) apply to AI use cases\n	What Connecticut's SB 5 and other emerging AI laws require of businesses\n	What carriers are asking about AI in renewal applications and where coverage gaps exist\n	Building an AI governance program that addresses both compliance and insurance readiness\n\n\nTo register\, please click here.\n\nAbout Chris Cook\n\nChris Cook is the founder of Blackbox Zero\, an AI governance advisory firm serving mid-sized companies in regulated industries. Before founding Blackbox Zero\, he spent 21 years at IBM in senior finance\, audit\, and governance roles\, including Deputy Chief Auditor and CFO of IBM UK\, was a voting member of IBM's AI Ethics Board\, and created IBM's first AI audit program. He holds a CFA charter\, an MBA from Yale School of Management\, and two degrees in Computer Science from Boston University.\n\nAbout Chris Bollig\n\nChris Bollig\, CPCU\, is the Founder and Principal of Bellrock Insurance LLC\, an independent commercial insurance agency\, where he helps clients navigate the impacts of emerging risks like AI on their insurance and risk management programs. Before founding Bellrock\, Chris spent nearly 15 years with two national insurance carriers\, overseeing regional portfolios totaling more than $2 billion in written premium. That experience gives him an insider's view of how underwriters assess\, price\, and decline risk. Earlier in his career\, Chris was a civil engineering consultant at two of the top ten civil engineering firms in the U.S. He holds a master's in engineering from the University of Texas\, an MBA from Southern Methodist University\, and the CPCU designation from The Institutes.\n\nAbout Russell Anderson\n\nRuss Anderson is a Vice Chair of Pullman & Comley's Business and Finance Department and Chair of its Artificial Intelligence practice\, where his technology focus assists clients across industries. Russ frequently serves as outside general counsel and has developed particular expertise in AI licensing\, governance and compliance\, advising clients on how to license and deploy AI services in ways that protect their interests and comply with existing and emerging laws governing the use of AI. He holds a J.D. from William & Mary Law School and a B.A. from Wesleyan University.
